Poetry Corner Kicks: Dynamo 1 – Union 0

I just don't care anymore.

You know what? I never cared about the playoffs anyway. The Philadelphia Union can go ahead and miss a shot at the Cup for all I care. Just look and see how much I care. In fact, I wrote a poem about how much I don’t care that we don’t make the playoffs. Here it is…

In a game that the Union must win
They decided to pack it all in
The Dynamo came in prepared
It’s a good thing I just do not care

The twenty-first minute was tense
When the Union relaxed their defense
For Bruin and Weaver gave scares
It’s a good thing I just do not care

But the crossbar would foil Will Bruin
And Weaver’s wide shot came to ruin
That sequence might cause some to swear
It’s a good thing I just do not care

Fabinho then sent in a cross
And Casey applied too much sauce
His header went high in the air
It’s a good thing I just do not care

Then Keon’s big goal was denied
When Okugo was whistled offiside
The ruling was slightly unfair
It’s a good thing I just do not care

But when Clark scored a goal off his head
The dread of ineptitude spread
To ward off the looming despair
I keep telling myself not to care

When Jack missed the net yet again
There just was no doubt ’bout the end
To losing the U are ensnared
I am trying so hard not to care

The Union are sitting in sixth
Weighted down like a sack full of bricks
For the playoffs I offer a prayer
‘Cause in truth I just cannot not care
