Lancaster native records clean sheet in first MLS start
Travis Worra made three saves in his first start for DC United on Saturday.
Lancaster native Travis Worra, who grew up in the pre-Union days of his youth a DC United fan, made his first start with his favorite team on Saturday.
The Hempfield High School grad who led the Black Knights to a state title in 2010 made his debut last season with a 32-minute cameo off the bench. An injury to Andrew Dykstra cleared the way for Worra to not only record his first start but also register his first clean sheet in a scoreless road draw with the New York Red Bulls.
Worra made three saves in the game.
The 6-foot-3 keeper set a school record for saves with 157 during his University of New Hampshire career from 2011-14 and made 12 appearances with Richmond Kickers in USL last season on loan. Prior to college, he played in the U.S. Development Academy with PA Classics from 2007-10.
Saturday was an eventful day for goalkeepers from our region. Woodbury, N.J., native Tyler Miller made his first start for Seattle Sounders FC.
Pleased to make my first @MLS start today! Even more important, pick up a big road point! Back to DC to keep working our way up #VamosUnited
