Two teams from the Philadelphia area will be returning home from Overland Park, Kansas with hardware after Lehigh Valley United and Real Jersey FC won U.S. Youth Soccer national championships on Sunday morning.

Lehigh Valley United’s 19U boys captured the storied McGuire Cup with 1-0 win over Baltimore Celtic in overtime. Celtic’s 19U boys were looking to win nationals for a third straight year but a Luke McMahon goal on the end of a set piece in the 96th minute gave Lehigh Valley its first 19U boys crown since 2013.

Real Jersey FC’s 15U boys won the Medford, N.J.-based club’s first U.S. Youth Soccer national championship with a 2-0 win over another local club in PA Dominion FC in their second straight national final. Cade McGrath and Milton Jones scored in a five-minute span in the second half to avoid the late heartbreak they experienced a year ago at this stage.

The Wyomissing, Pa.-based FC Revolution had a chance to capture a third national title for our region but were unable to hold onto an early lead they captured through Taylor Mentzer in the sixth minute and fell 4-1 to Waukesha SC.
