Spanish midfielder David Rabadán has been acquired by the Philadelphia Union II on loan from Atlético Albacete, the team announced on Thursday.

The 19-year-old has started 19 matches this season for the team in the Spanish fourth division, which is affiliated with second tier club Albacete Balompié.

“David is a developing prospect coming to us from the Spanish youth system,” Union Sporting Director Ernst Tanner said in a news release. “We are happy to add him to our team and look forward to seeing him grow within our system.”

Union II head coach Sven Gartung described his new midfielder as someone who is good with the ball at his feet and can lead a counterattack.

His signing brings the Union II roster to within one of the league minimum of 12 with the season opener on Saturday. He gives the team four international players on the USL Championship roster. The league allots seven, but more are available through trades, which the team used to acquire five additional spots last season.
