Friends and teammates since their pre-Academy days, Issa Rayyan and Ben Ofeimu have been making the most of their time back home in Michigan

While the Philadelphia Union have yet to play a game in Chester in 2020, Philadelphia Union II did kick off their season with a scoreless draw at Subaru Park way back on March 7.

Second-year pros Ben Ofeimu and Issa Rayyan both played that night, not realizing at the time that it would be their last game for several months.

Returning home to Michigan, both Rayyan and Ofeimu have been spending a lot of time at home with their families, something neither has done for much more than a week or two at a time since joining the Philadelphia Union Academy in their early teens.

I caught up with the Union II duo a couple weeks to talk about how they’ve been staying fit and to talk about their friendship as teammates initially with Vardar Academy, the Union Academy and now Union II.
