How to Watch: U-23 USMNT vs Honduras
Win and they Qualify for the Olympic Games
The U-23 USMNT has a chance to go to the Olympics, something that they have not done since 2008. All they have to do is win their game tonight against Honduras. That game kicks off at 6pm.
To get to the semifinal game, the US had to go through Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and Mexico. In those games the U-23 team beat Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic team. However the Us suffered a 1-0 loss to Mexico back on Wednesday. Meanwhile Honduras came out of their group on top after winning just one of their matches and tying in their final two matches.
Since the tournament became an U-23 competition back in 1992, the US and Honduras teams have meet 9 times. In those meetings the US has come out on top with the current series record sitting at 5-3-1. However as many people know, the US has struggled in recent years to qualify for the Olympics. Meanwhile Honduras as qualified for the last three olympic games. The team even finished fourth in 2016, losing to the host country Brazil in the semifinals.
