Union go into the international break with three more points
Game Updates
FINAL Whistle – Union with another shutout. Makes it three clean sheets in a row, something that has been done by the boys in blue for a few years now.
90+ 2’ – More of the Union kids check in as Quinn Sullivan and Anthony Fontana come on.
90’ – Burke picks off a poor pass and just makes a poor decision on the one vs one, that his shot goes over the net. We will also have at least 3 minutes of stoppage time here.
88’ – After a bad touch by Flach he comes off the pitch for debuting 17-year-old Paxten Aaronson.
85’ – Paxten Aaronson is about to make his MLS Debut tonight. He is on the touchline getting final directions by the coaching staff.
79’ – The U turn it over after a bad pass and Blake makes a stop. After it goes out, the reigning goalkeeper of the year gets a little emotional with his teammates after the error. Lets be honest, we all respect that from him.
78’ – Back to back corners by Portland and Blake gets on top of it.
76’ – Ref says play on as Burke feels contact and goes down inside the box.
72’ – Union Free kick from a few yards off the sideline and the service goes to the far post and bounces around. It eventually hits the post and goes out for a goal kick.
67’ – In game interview with Jim Curtin and he seems pleased on the set pieces. However he is saying there is still work that they need to do. When asked about Paxten, Curtin laughed and said there could be a debut tonight. He also said Brenden Aaronson did a great job today.
64’ – Another corner here for the Union. Burke gets it on frame but its miss handled by Portland’s goalkeeper. However, Jack Elliott is on top of the second chance and pokes it home! Union up 3-0 and they are all off of set pieces.
62’ – Portland’s Zuparic earns a yellow card after pushing Przybylko down just outside of the right side of the net. Its played short and the ball gets deflected off of Wagner’s direct shot.
59’ – Looks like Santos is down on the pitch with his shoe off. Training staff is now on the field and they are looking at the foot. The Ref us now trying to get him off the pitch. At the same time Burke is coming on to replace Santos, whose night is now down. Santos heads straight to the locker room after the sub.
56’ – Portland switching the attack from the right to the left and earns a corner kick. Off the set piece Mora misses the net from dead center of the box.
50’ – Portland with a corner from the right flag and it is handled easily by the Union. Flach than on the counter and it looks like Santos is pulled down inside the box but there was no call by Sibiga.
46’ – Second half underway in Chester.
45+4’ – We have Halftime in Chester. Teams head to the locker room at 8:15pm.
45+2’ – Robert Sibiga has waived off the goal for the handball, due to it hitting the left forearm.
45+1’ – Hold up here is we have VAR looking for a handball.
45’ – A third set piece goal for the UNION. As Flach picks up a loose ball. We will also have three minutes of stoppage time here.
43’ – A push for Portland and the ball is stopped by Jack Elliott. Who got a foot on it just at the top of the box.
41’ – Valeri slides for a ball and hits Martinez, who goes down and play is stopped.
40’ – Przybylko is down as the ref tries to get the training staff on the pitch. Looks like he took the ball off the face. Ouch. Play resumes with Portland, who are in blue, is passing it back and forth in their defensive side.
37’ – The boys in blue focusing their attack up the right side of the field. Bedoya puts it a little too far for Mbaizo to pickup the ball. It goes out for a goal kick.
34’ – Union now have another free kick after Monteiro is pulled down near the right flag. The ball is cleared by Martinez get the second chance. He sends it flying about the crossbar.
31’ – Union setup for a corner kick from the left flag. Wagner sends it into the center of the box. Przybylko gets a head on the cross and then Santos reflects it to the top of the net. Union now up 2-0.
26’ – GOOOAAAALLLL of a set piece! The ball is sent into the box near the penalty spot where a Kacper Przybylko is unmarked and is able to get a head on it for the goal.
22’ – Santos plays the ball out as play is stopped. Eryk Williamson and Jamiro Monteiro collide as they fight for the ball and accidentally hit each other in the face.
13’ – What. A. Strike. by Wagner off a volley but it goes wide left of the net.
11’ – Timbers earns its first corner kick and Valeri sends it into the center of the box and it goes out for a goal kick.
10’ – Wagner is on the ground and getting looked at after taking what looks like an elbow to the face.
9’ – Union on a counter after picking up the ball in the midfield. Bedoya sends the ball on to the goal using his left foot and just misses an assist from a mistimed header by. Kacper Przybylko.
7’- Seems like FS1 is working on Strong’s audio mix as Stu Holden is handling the play and play by himself. Apologizes for Tech issues and Jon Strong is heard counting to four and takes back over calling the game.
6’ – Olivier Mbaizo earns an early yellow card after getting frustrated with a call the opposite side line judge made.
4’ – Portland with a free kick and Blake goes full dive to make the save.
2’ – Something you don’t hear everyday. John Strong is looking for some Natural sound in his ear. As he is talking about the sound mix on his live mic. Incase you were wondering he isn’t hearing anything from Chester…. just himself.
1’ – We finally have kickoff in Chester. Game got underway at 7:26 PM
