Union 2 striker Shanyder Borgelin made his senior national team debut for Haiti when he came off the bench in the second half of a friendly against Bahrain on Wednesday.

Borgelin checked in the game in Bahrain in the 68th minute with Haiti trailing the hosts 6-1. He joined fellow YSC Academy and Philadelphia Union Academy grad Sebastian Elney in the game. Elney, who plays for Hartford Athletic, checked into the game in the 59th minute.

Borgelin, who turns 20 next month, joined the Union Academy from Florida in 2017 and signed a professional second team contract in April 2019. He’s featured previously with the Haiti U20 team.

Haiti will look to rebound from the lopsided loss to Bahrain with another friendly on Saturday against Jordan.
