Game Thread: Philadelphia Union 0 New England Revolution 1, Full Time
The Union unable to find an equalizer up a man
Game Updates
Full Time whistle blows and Kai Wagner has to be held back all the way to the dressing room. Ugly end to this one.
90’ Four minutes added on
89’ Paxten played Bedoya in with a lovely backheel but the captain passes and it leads to nothing. Aaronson into the book going the other way.
84’ Cole Turner in for Sullivan for first appearance of the season
82’ Save Bendik on a shot from Gil off the counter
80’ Fontana into the book for a foul on the break
79’ Davo with a shot on goal but not much power behind it
77’ Sullivan into the book.
76’ Could’ve been 2-0 there but Caldwell’s chance is well over the bar. Great play by Jones for the Revs.
71’ Bedoya goes into the book. Fontana and Davo in for Harriel and McGlynn. MLS debut for Davo.
70’ Sullivan finds Kacper but his header is right at Knighton. Union with 5 shots on goal.
61’ Aaronson with a left footed shot off the corner but Knighton with a diving stop.
59’ Second yellow to Traustason on a foul on Harriel in transition
55’ Union with a flurry of chances, shot from Aaronson spilled, shot from McGlynn out for a corner, yellow to the Revs
54’ Wagner with a good play to cut down a chance for Kizza in the box.
51’ Bedoya creates a shot for himself but it’s another one right at Knighton.
46’ And we’re back. Kacper still out there. No other changes.
45’ Halftime. Not a bad half necessarily for the hosts but some work to do to get back in it.
34’ Matt Polster scores off the free kick from Arnór Traustason. Got behind the defense at the far post and Andre Blake isn’t in goal. Polster now has two goals this season, both against the Union.
33’ Harriel goes into the book after tripping Jones. Seems a bit harsh but Jones was past him.
29’ More promising attack, good turn by Sullivan but it leads to a Flach shot right at Knighton he almost spills.
29’ McGlynn with a ball downfield that almost plays Kacper in. So close.
26’ Revs with a dangerous attack that leads to a cross deep in the box that fortunately misses everybody.
23’ Good movement from the Union attack leads to an Aaronson shot that Knighton makes a meal of to give them a corner but nothing doing on the set piece.
16’ First 15 minutes have been mostly unremarkable unless you are grading on a curve. Neither team is fielding their strongest lineup and it shows.
1’ Underway!
