Philadelphia Union homegrown Cole Turner loaned to El Paso Locomotive

Philadelphia Union homegrown midfielder Cole Turner will have a chance to play out the rest of the 2021 season with one of the top teams in the USL Championship this season.

The 20-year-old Turner, who has made just one six-minute cameo for the Philadelphia Union this season, is joining El Paso Locomotive on loan for the remainder of the season. The Locomotive currently lead the Mountain Division on 47 points with 13-2-8 record.

Turner, a Churchville, Md. native, joined the first team in 2020 as a homegrown player after making 25 appearances for the Philadelphia Union 2 in 2019. He’s only made two first team appearances since but made four appearances for Union 2 in USL last season and has been a regular with the team in their exhibition games this season.

He joins former Union 2 teammate Selmir Miscic out on loan from the Union organization to USL. Miscic was on a USL contract and has been on loan all season with North Carolina FC in USL League One. Midfielder Matej Oravec is currently on loan for the rest of the season with Železiarne Podbrezová in his native Slovakia and homegrown Jack de Vries is currently on loan with Venezia FC’s U19 team in Italy.
