Game Thread: Philadelphia Union 2 vs Montreal 2, Final

Union look to continue their unbeaten streak with a trip up north

90+5’ – Cross from the left side of the field into the center of the box and Montreal gets a head on it and it goes into the back of the net. CF Montreal ties it in the final seconds of the game.

90+3’ – Play is stopped as three players collide in the air trying to get a head on the end of a cross inside the Union’s box.

90+1 – We will have at least 3 minutes of stoppage time.

77’ – Union with a free kick from just outside the penalty area on the right side. Wagner drives it into the center of the box and finds the back of the net. Union up 2-0.

75’ – Waterman earns a yellow for a foul he committed on Gazdag.

74’ Aaronson gets a shot on goal with some fine dribbling skill

72’ – Play is stopped as Przybylko goes over the back of a hunched over Montreal player.

70’ – Freese stepping up big to keep the Union in the game, as he stretches to push the ball over the crossbar for Montreal’s 8th corner of the match. The corner is defended and Montreal eventually takes a long shot that goes out for a goal kick.

67’ – What a save! Freese saves what would have been a disastrous own goal from a sliding Union defender.

64’ – The EQUALIZER for the Union and it comes off a set piece. Monteiro sent it into the center of the box and Glesnes uses his back to direct the ball, which hits off the post. From the back of the post goes off the back of the goalkeeper and into the net.

59’ – Ibrahim comes in and replaces Miljevic

58’ – Union called offsides, which could be the very first of the match. It was on Flach who was trying to pick up a ball that was pushed through by Gazdag.

56’ – Sullivan is coming out and is being replaced by Gazdag.

46’ – The game resumes with the Union attacking from right to left.

45’ – HALFTIME

44’ – Djordje Mihailovic earns a yellow card

33’ – Montreal earns a corner. It is played to the top center of the box where Montreal’s Matko Miljevic is unmarked and the shot is sent into the back of the net. CF Montreal up 1 to nil.

32’ – This time a low shot comes from the left side and is scoped up by Freese.

27’ – Montreal earns a free kick from the far right side. It is sent on frame and easily saved by Freese.

20’ – Off the free kick into the box Sullivan gets a shot off at the top of the box but it is quickly blocked by CF Montreal.

15’ – Cross from wide right into the center of the box and Montreal can get a head on it and the shot is saved by Freese.

13’ – Aaronson sends a shot or a cross into the box and it hits off the crossbar.

12’ – Union knock the ball out of play to give Montreal a corner kick. The kick from the far flag is sent directly across to the far post and cleared by the Union. Second chance ball comes back into the box and a shot goes over the net.

11’ – Contact inside the box by Mbaizo as he takes down Choiniere, but the ref saws that he was trying to draw the penalty and waives for play to continue on.

1’ – Union get the game underway and are wearing their BYU kits.
