Game Thread: Philadelphia Union 2 vs Queretaro 1; Final

Game Updates

Post-Match – Bendik is having some words with a Queretaro player, and now everyone is coming together. This all happened after Harriel was sent to the ground during the final whistle.

FINAL

90+11′- GOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL!!!! Wagner crosses the ball into the middle of the box and right on the foot of Donovan who gets it into the back of the net.

90+9′- Wagner is about two yards from the top of the box, his cross goes off the post and Elliott can’t get on the ball to push it into net and it goes off the post.

90+7′ – Mendoza clotheslines Torres and earns a yellow card. That was his second of the night, so he was shown a red. Before the free kick is taken another yellow shown to one of the Queretaro players in the wall.

90+3′- Another set piece here for the Union. This is about 40 yards out, the service is sent into the box. The second chance ball is sent back into the box and than the ball bounces off a few players and ends with the Union committing a foul.

90+1′- The fourth official has posted that there will be 10 minutes of stoppage time.

90′- Another yellow card is issued to Queretaro, this one is to Gularte for an elbow into the back of the head.

86′- Queretaro’s Garcia is shown a yellow for taking the legs out of the Union player. Free kick from about 35-40 yards out. Glesenes and Wagner are standing over it, Glesnes runs up for the long distance shot, but the ball went over the net. Now the staff is out looking at the goalkeeper.

83′- Union with another corner from the near flag. It is sent to the far post and out for another Union corner. The second corner was defended by Queretaro.

80′- Queretaro makes a double switch here. Carranza is also coming out and being replaced by Sullivan. Both teams have used all 5 of their subs.

77′- Another free kick for the Union here, this one is from the far side of the field. The service is sent in and it goes off a defenders head and out for a Queretaro throw-in. Union making a double switch taking off Lowe and Mbaizo. The two of them were replaced by Harriel and Torres. Carranza is also down on the pitch.

75′- Philly’s second corner from the near flag here. The service is sent towards the 6-yard line, and Elliott’s head pops the ball up but Queretaro’s goalkeeper is able to get a hand on it.

71′- A challenge from Mbaizo who pushes a Queretaro player, and that player goes down. The visitors bench is furious as they believe Mbaizo’s elbow went into his throat. Check complete and VAR didn’t see anything wrong.

70′- Queretaro makes a change here bringing on Gularte for Sierra.

65′- Queretaro ties the game. That is all I’m going to say here.

61′ – Double switch for the Union here bringing on Flach and Donovan. They replace McGlynn and Uhre. Queretaro also making changes here as well.

50′- Queretaro’s Manzanarez earns a yellow for trying to steam roll through Bueno’s back.

48′ – Yellow card, the first of the game, is shown to Martinez for a late challenge.

46′- We are back underway.

Half

45+1′- The fourth official has posted that there will be at least 2 minutes of stoppage time.

42′- Free kick for the other team a few yards above the box and close to the near sidelines. The cross is sent into the box, as it was bouncing around a foul was committed by Queretaro which ended the threat.

28′- During the break of play the ref went over to Blake, who is wearing the captain’s armband, to tell him to tell Lowe to calm down. Blake than pulled Lowe over to say the same thing.

26′- Play is stopped again by the ref as there is some words being exchanged again. The ref wen over to Lowe and had some words.

20′ – Wagner goes down and Lowe allows the ball to go out. Queretaro restarts the play, upsetting the Union. Tensions rise as the ball goes out for a corner; Martinez and Lowe confront Queretaro’s captains. After a brief exchange, play resumes with a corner that Blake easily saves.

18′ – Bueno collects the ball from Queretaro’s goal kick and sends a long pass to Carranza. As Carranza races into the box, his shot strikes the post. However, the effort is deemed offside.

10′ – Bueno puts the Union ahead. An initial shot from McGlynn is redirected by Bueno, who then manages to slot it past the goalkeeper on his second attempt. Union lead 1-0.

5′ – Wagner delivers a cross, but it’s headed out, resulting in a long throw-in for the Union.

4′ – Union earns a free kick close to the far flag after Bueno is fouled.

1′ – After a one-hour delay, the match kicks off in Chester. The Union, dressed in dark blue, are defending the River End for the first half.

Pre-game – Kickoff is postponed due to a power outage around Subaru Park.
