2024 Southeastern PA Soccer Hall of Fame class and award winners announced

Washington Spirit goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart and former pros David Castellanos and Chris Williams lead an 11-member class that will be inducted into the Southeastern Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame in May.

Barnhart is returning to Washington Spirit this season in the NWSL, her 16th is a pro. She graduated from Boyertown High School and played club at FC Delco, Souderton and Boyertown SC before going to Stanford. She earned 54 caps as a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team from 2004-2013 and also played locally for the Philadelphia Independence.

Other inductees in the class include David Castellanos, the head coach of Drexel men’s soccer who won a national championship with UConn and played professionally with the Colorado Rapids, Minnesota Thunder, Virginia Beach Mariners and the Philadelphia KiXX. Chris Williams, who coaches youth soccer locally with Penn Alliance Select, played professionally for Miami FC, San Antonio Scorpions, Ocean City Nor’easters and indoor teams Harrisburg Heat and Baltimore Blast in addition to the KiXX.

Other inductees include Elaine Bono, Dave Bontempo, Pat Cain Jr, Bob DiBenedetto, Frank Duddy, Dave Jones, Bob Rojahn and Patty McGrail Schiffler.

The award winners announced include coach of the year awards for Audrey Anderson (Pennridge HS, Hex FC and Deep Run Soccer) and John Dunlop (Father Judge), youth player of the year awards for Ava DeGeorge (Archbishop Wood and Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals) and Abou Cherif (Father Judge HS and FC Delco).

Philadelphia Falcons have been named club of the year, Jim Fisher referee of the year and Hudson Studley young referee of the year. Lucianna Ammaturo and Mike Pio were named Little Club Administrator of the Year and Service to Soccer award winners. 

The banquet will be held Saturday, May 11 from 5-10 p.m. at Cannstatter Volksfest-Verein, 9031 Academy Rd. in Philadelphia.
