Philadelphia Union center back Damion Lowe is reportedly heading to Saudi Arabia.

The 31-year-old Jamaican international has made 28 appearances the past two seasons for the Union but with his contract expiring and his spot in the rotation as a third choice center back it appears his transfer will mean he won’t leave on a free in the winter and he’ll have a chance to play more regularly again.

According to a report in Give Me Sport by Tom Bogert, the Union will receive a $200,000 transfer fee for Lowe to go to Saudi Arabian club Al Akhdoud.

Lowe, a former Reading United standout, has been a fan favorite since arriving at the club and will be remembered fondly in Chester even if his stay felt all too short. His departure would leave the Union thin at center back with Brandan Craig on season-long loan to El Paso and 20-year-old Olwethu Makhanya still unproven at the MLS level. Outside back Nathan Harriel would likely be preferred in a pinch.
