CJ Olney converts late to seal three points for Union II
Philadelphia Union II defeated Atlanta United II 2-1 after a late winner from midfielder CJ Olney at Subaru Park on Sunday.
Union II made it two wins in a row after beating 4-3 NYCFC II last week. Against Atlanta United II, midfielders Cavan Sullivan and CJ Olney completed the come-from-behind win in the final 15 minutes of the game.
Union II midfielder Nicholas Pariano conceded a foul in the penalty area to Atlanta United II. Atlanta United II midfielder Nick Firmino converted the penalty in the 43rd minute.
Forward Edward Davis tapped the ball back to Sullivan for his equalizer in the 78th minute. Sullivan’s left foot smashed the ball into the post and in the back of the net.
Olney’s goal came in the 95th minute with a volley from inside the penalty area after a rebound from Atlanta United II defender Ramzi Qawasmy.
Both teams recorded 21 fouls, with two yellow cards shown for Union II forward José Riasco in the 70th minute and Atlanta United II goalkeeper Jayden Hibbert in the 92nd minute.
Union II is currently at the top of the league. Cincinnati 2 lost to NYCFC II earlier today, leaving Union II in first place by one point.
Union II will travel to SeatGeek Stadium to play Chicago Fire FC II in the final game of the regular season on Sunday, October 6, at 1 p.m.
