Holiday Soccer Gift-Giving Guide

Published

on

By now you have been swimming in emails with coupons codes and Black Friday/Cyber Monday promotions trying to figure out what it is you are actually going to get for the people on your holiday shopping list. If you are looking for some gift ideas for the soccer fan in your life, I have some suggestions. Some are on my own wish list and some are oldies but goodies.

Please note: there are affiliate links included in some of these listings that will lead to some peanuts being thrown the sites way if you click on them and make a purchase.

Sambas

Trends in soccer fashion and footwear come and go but you truly can’t go wrong with Adidas Sambas. They are the shoe you can order multiple pairs of because you know they’ll wear a hole in the bottom long before you ever get sick of wearing them.

Classic Philly Soccer T-Shirts

Old School Shirts is a great website for all kinds of retro shirts, including lots of now defunct soccer teams. Why add to your Union shirt collection when you can rep the Atoms or the Charge or spark conversation with a Spartans shirt?

LEGO Icons of Play

As a proud AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO) I have zero reservations about recommending this set for soccer fans of all ages. A set with 10 minifigures that costs under $100 is a deal to begin with and if you buy two you can complete the field and have 20 minifigs. If you’re looking for a vintage feel the LEGO Championship Challenge sets aren’t as hard to get ahold of as you might think.

32-0

Jerry Moyer recounts the incredible season Fleetwood High School had in 1980 under legendary Coach Ray Buss and the lessons he learned along the way.

Glory City Stories: Philadelphia

I haven’t snagged a copy yet but the Glory City Stories: Philadelphia edition comes recommended by Jose Nunez, who recently reviewed the collection.

Raquinho Card

For as disappointing as the 2024 season was for the Philadelphia Union there were still some memorable moments like Raquinho’s pitch invasion. His Topps Now card is a bit pricey but hard to argue its collector’s item status.

Faithful Champions

Philadelphia Union Academy grad Owen Moore is a talented Division 1 goalkeeper and a budding entrepreneur. His company 6:11 Armor merged with Faithful Champions earlier this year and continues to offer unique apparel with a Christian twist. You might recall Philadelphia Union II striker Eddy Davis wearing a headband that says 100% Jesus in their run through the postseason or seen players wearing grip socks with a cross by the ankle. If you hae, there’s a good chance it came from Faithful Champions.

Binho Board

Sadly it looks like the Philadelphia Union binho boards are out of stock and won’t be back until next October but the traditional white binhoboards are still available and are on sale.

DOOP Car Magnet

I purposely didn’t want to make this gift guide a recreation of the MLS Shop website and this is a product you won’t find there. Done in the style of Bimbo, this car magnet makes a great gift, especially in these, shall we say, trying times. There’s also a Phang magnet and a magnet with a very specific joke about how it often rains at Union games available on Etsy.

There’s several more items listed in our shop, including mugs and t-shirts with the Philadelphia Soccer Now logo. Please share other soccer-related gift ideas in the comments.
