After finishing out his college career at Temple in the fall, Kemali Green is heading to Maine to start his pro career with new USL League One side Portland Hearts of Pine.

The 24-year-old Jamaican youth international was part of the Philadelphia Union Academy in high school and graduated from YSC Academy before starting his college career at Lock Haven. He transferred to Temple in 2021 and finished up his eligibility as a grad student last fall. He’s also been a coach for local youth club Quaker Elite, leading a 2007 boys team to the Eastern Pennsylvania Presidents Cup final in 2023.

“I’ve heard amazing things about Maine, from its beautiful landscapes to its passionate soccer fans,” Green said in a news release. “As for Hearts of the Pine, the club’s culture and ambition stood out to me. There’s a clear commitment to building something special, and I wanted to be a part of that, especially with a coach like Bobby [Murphy] who has a ton of experience. To be able to tap into his knowledge every day and the opportunity to play for a club with such a strong sense of community and purpose was key.”

Portland kicks off their inaugural season at fellow League One newcomer FC Naples in Florida on March 29.
