Jack McGlynn’s first goal for the U.S. Men’s National Team won’t be forgotten any time soon.

The 21-year-old Philadelphia Union midfielder scored from 30 yards out in the 37th minute off a feed from Caden Clark and added an assist on Matko Miljevic’s goal in the 64th minute in a Man of the Match performance in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday afternoon.

It was McGlynn’s second cap for the senior national team after appearing as a substitute for the team in a 1-0 loss to Slovenia last January. Patrick Agyemang doubled the U.S. lead two minutes after McGlynn’s strike and fellow debutant Miljevic’s goal made it 3-0. Jorge Yriarte scored a goal in his senior national team debut for Venezuela in the 68th minute to spoil the clean sheet.

Former Union midfielder Jose Martinez and current Union midfielder Jesus Bueno aren’t part of Venezuela’s squad, which included four players making their debut. Six players made their USMNT debuts in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI, including Chester, Pa.-born center back George Campbell. Two other players made their debut off the bench in the match.

The U.S. will play Costa Rica on Wednesday in Orlando. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
