Philadelphia Union all-time leading goal-scorer Daniel Gazdag is reportedly heading to Eastern Conference rival Columbus Crew in a cash deal.

Tom Bogert reported the shock move on Wednesday morning.

Gazdag turned 29 last month and has only an option year left after this season on his contract. The trade will open up a designated player spot for the Union but will also leave a sizable hole in the team’s attack going forward.

The Hungary international has 72 goals and 24 assists in 161 appearances in all competitions since joining the Union in May 2021 in a $1.8 million transfer from Budapest Honvéd FC.

His transfer would be the second in-league transfer for cash by the Philadelphia Union since the league launched the new initiative in the offseason. Jack McGlynn was sold for $2.1 million to Houston Dynamo in early February.
