PIAA district finals, semifinals and playbacks set as state tournament approaches
District 1 Class A girls and boys finals will be held tonight at Norristown High School in a busy night of high school soccer that includes semifinals in Class 4A.
Two-time defending state champions Dock Mennonite take on Faith Christian Academy in the Class A girls final at 5 p.m. followed by the boys final at 7 p.m. between defending district champions Calvary Christian and 2023 state champions Delaware County Christian. Only the district finals winners will advance to the state tournament.
The Class 2A girls representative will also be decided tonight as Villa Joseph Marie and Springfield Township decide a champion and state tournament berth at 7 p.m. at Hatboro-Horsham. Faith Christian boys await the runner up in Wednesday’s District 12 Class 2A final in the 2A boys final slated for Saturday.
Top 4A boys seed and defending District 1 champion West Chester Henderson will host Haverford tonight at 7 p.m. in one of two boys semifinals slated for this week. Springfield Township will host Abington in the other semifinal on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. All four semifinalists have already booked a spot in the state tournament. Lower Merion hosts Great Valley this afternoon at 3 p.m. and Owen J. Roberts hosts Downingtown West at 6 p.m. in the first of two rounds of playbacks to decide the fifth state tournament berth.
Top 4A girls seed Pennridge will host Lower Merion in one of two girls semifinals slated for tonight. Defending state champion Downingtown West hosts CB South in the other semifinal tonight at 6 p.m. CB South upset No. 2 seed CB East on Saturday with a 1-0 win. CB East hosts Conestoga at 6 p.m. and Spring-Ford hosts Neshaminy at 7 p.m. in the first of two rounds of playbacks to decide the fifth state tournament berth.
Class 3A finals are set after last night’s semifinals. Top boys seed Harriton knocked off defending state champion Radnor with a 3-1 win on Monday and they’ll play Lower Moreland in the final at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Upper Merion High School.
Defending state champions Strath Haven knocked off top seed West Chester Rustin in a 4-0 semifinal win on Monday and will play Radnor in Wednesday’s final at 5 p.m. at Upper Merion. Radnor and Strath Haven are both into the state tournament but only the boys winner will advance.
