MLS Next Pro joined the fray this week with their season openers so we have a few more players and teams to track this week. Paxten Aaronson picked up a secondary assist in the Rapids win, Colin Griffith returned to the field in his Portland Timbers 2 debut, Stefan Chirila converted from the spot for FC Cincinnati 2 and more in this week’s round-up of former Philadelphia Union players and others with ties to the area.

John McCarthy (Philadelphia, Pa.) was an unused sub in Red Bull New York’s 1-0 win over New England Revolution

Jack Elliott started and played 90 minutes in Chicago Fire’s 3-0 win over CF Montreal. Brandan Craig played 45 minutes off the bench for Montreal in the match.

Alvas Powell played 5 minutes off the bench for FC Cincinnati in their 1-0 loss to Minnesota United.

Paxten Aaronson (Medford, N.J.) started, played 90 minutes and had a secondary ASSIST for the Colorado Rapids in their 2-0 win over Portland Timbers. Zack Steffen (Downingtown, Pa.) started and played 90 minutes, making three saves for the Rapids and Keegan Rosenberry (Ronks, Pa.) played 8 minutes off the bench for the Rapids in the game.

Jack Skahan came off the bench, played 13 minutes and had an ASSIST in San Jose’s 2-0 win over Atlanta United. Reading United alum Paul Marie played 1 minute off the bench.

Daniel Gazdag played 64 minutes in Columbus Crew’s 2-2 draw with Sporting Kansas City.

Jack McGlynn started and played 88 minutes for Houston Dynamo in their 2-0 loss to LAFC.

Daniel Lovitz (Wyndmoor, Pa.) started and played 90 minutes for Nashville SC in their scoreless draw with FC Dallas.

Jakob Glesnes started and played 90 minutes for LA Galaxy in their 3-0 win over Charlotte FC. Tyler Miller (Woodbury, N.J.) was an unused sub for Charlotte.

Tai Baribo started and played 90 minutes for DC United in their 1-0 loss to Austin FC. Reading United alum Alex Bono was an unused substitute for DC.

David Vazquez did not dress for San Diego FC in their 2-0 win over St. Louis City. CJ dos Santos (Philadelphia, Pa.) was an unused substitute for San Diego along with Pablo Sisniega. Reading United and Ocean City Nor’easters alum Simon Becher started and played 64 minutes for St. Louis. Reading United alum Ben Lundt was an unused sub.

MLS Next Pro

Anton Sorenson started and played 90 minutes for Chattanooga FC in their 4-1 loss to Crown Legacy FC. Andrew Johnson (Philadelphia, Pa.) started and played 90 minutes for Crown Legacy.

Jackson Gilman (Schwenksville, Pa.) started and wore the captain’s armband for Toronto FC II against his former team, Philadelphia Union II, in a 1-0 loss. Gilman started in central midfielder for the visiting TFC II.

Colin Griffith (Stroudsburg, Pa.) came off the bench and played 14 minutes for Portland Timbers 2 in their 2-1 win over San Jose. Jack Jasinski started and played 90 minutes for San Jose.

Andre Chirila and Stefan Chirila (Allentown, Pa.) both started and Stefan scored a penalty kick goal for FC Cincinnati 2 in their 3-1 loss to CT United. Former Union Academy defender Gavin DeHart dressed but did not feature for Cincinnati.

Eric Klein (Manheim, Pa.) started, played 90 minutes and had an assist for New England Revolution II in their 1-1 draw with Atlanta United 2.

Evan Watt (York, Pa.) and Penn alum Patrick Cayelli both started and played 90 minutes in Austin FC II’s 4-2 loss to Minnesota United FC 2.

Giuliano Whitchurch (West Chester United) made his LAFC 2 debut starting and playing 90 minutes in their 2-2 draw with Tacoma Defiance.

Nick Pariano (Philadelphia, Pa.) started and wore the captain’s armband for Huntsville City FC in their 3-1 win over Orlando City B. Zach Barrett (Phoenixville, Pa.) did not dress for Huntsville.
