Paid Their Dues: Danny Cruz signs with SF Deltas

The ex-Philadelphia Union forward heads to the Bay Area

Former Philadelphia Union winger Danny Cruz has signed with the NASL expansion side San Francisco Deltas.

Cruz came to the Union in 2012 when he was traded from D.C. United for Lionard Pajoy, and remained with the team through the 2015 season. Cruz played for a total of 70 games scoring seven goals in his two full years with the team (he was loaned to FK Bodø/Glimt in Norway in his final year with the team).

Cruz signed with the new NASL expansion team after not being picked up by Minnesota United FC when his former team made the jump to MLS this year.

He’ll be bringing the experience of having played five years in MLS, a year in the Norwegian first division, and a year in NASL to the Deltas, where former Minnesota and Union teammate Greg Jordan (2012-13) signed in December.

Cruz is best remembered on the Union as a player who gave 110% and was a constant source of energy. We wish Danny Cruz the best as he begins this new chapter in his career!
