La Salle College High School enters national boys soccer rankings

La Salle College High School is the latest team from the region to enter the national boys soccer rankings, joining Conestoga and Salesianum School in the Top 25.

The Explorers moved into the No. 19 spot in the USA Today/United Soccer Coaches poll for Week 3, despite a 2-0 loss Sunday morning to previously top-ranked Pennington School. The defending Catholic League and District 12 champions started the season with five wins, including a 5-0 thrashing of Cardinal O’Hara on Friday.

Pennington surrendered their top ranking after a loss to Delran earlier in the week, but the South Jersey power still has not cracked the Top 25 (they are No. 22 in the SIMA FAB 50 Boys rankings on TopDrawerSoccer). Conestoga is No. 1, Salesianum No. 17 and Central Bucks West No. 27 in the FIBA 50.

Salesianum School moved down a spot to No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches poll after a successful road trip to North Carolina, where they beat Charlotte Catholic and Christ School both by identical 4-1 score lines.

Conestoga moved up 11 spots to crack the top 10 at No. 9 after 3-0 and 2-0 wins over Radnor and West Chester East. Delran and CB West both received votes for the Top 25.

Conestoga and La Salle are No. 2 and 3 in the Region III rankings, followed by CB West (No. 5), Delran (No. 6), Parkland (No. 9), Elizabethtown (No. 13), Shawnee (No. 14) and Lancaster Mennonite (No. 15). Salesianum tops Region IV while Appoquinimink (No. 7) and Caesar Rodney (No. 11) also represent Delaware in the regional rankings.

On the girls side, Conestoga (5-0-1) entered the Top 25 at No. 24 while Spring-Ford (6-0-0) moved down a spot to No. 14. Cumberland Valley (No. 5), Hempfield (No. 10), Parkland (No. 12) and Eastern (No. 15) are behind Spring-Ford (No. 3) and Conestoga (No. 4) in the Region III rankings while Delaware doesn’t have any girls teams in the Region IV rankings for this week.
