Steel announces roster moves

One day later, Bethlehem follow the Union’s lead

These always suck. A day after learning about the (potential) futures of pretty much everyone on the first team, we get some good news and some bad news from the USL side. Let’s start with the good.

Captain James Chambers, dynamic wingers Santi Moar and Chris Nanco, defenders and both guys named Matt (Mahoney and Real) as well as Jamaican international and Pittsburgh Riverhound terrorizer Cory Burke will all be returning for the 2018 season.

That being said, the negatives here are uh, negative as hell. Defensively Charlie Reymann and Hugh Roberts are gone, as well as midfielders Chris Wingate (get better soon my man) Amoy Brown, Josh Heard, Yosef Samuel and forward Seku Conneh.

Without getting super in depth because well, it is what it is I suppose at this point, there’s only a few of these I’m really shocked by as far as Steel guys go. Hugh Roberts was an absolute wall at the back and Chris Wingate was incredibly unlucky to suffer a serious injury in the middle of the season. From a personal attachment standpoint, Josh Heard and Amoy Brown are year one guys and I’ll always have a soft spot for that inaugural roster. Seku lit it up when he was healthy but a few nagging injuries put a damper on what was a solid second season with Steel. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him pop back up in the Netherlands or even get a few looks in the US to be honest.

Everyone go thank all these guys for a great last year (or two) however you can, they’ve truly worked their asses off for this club and the least we can do is Tweet them a fist bump emoji or something.
