Chivas USA Get Juan Pablo Angel In Trade With Crosstown Rivals

Published

on

According to Soccer By Ives, Juan Pablo Angel is staying in the city of Los Angeles. The Colombian striker was traded “late last night” from the Los Angeles Galaxy to crosstown rivals Chivas USA.

Ives believes that Angel most likely was thinking of his family when deciding to accept a move to Chivas.

Angel was linked heavily to the Philadelphia Union because of his relationship with Faryd Mondragon – he’s the godfather of Mondragon’s kids – and his reported insistence on going to Philly or seeking out retirement. Additionally, the Galaxy had to move Angel in order to have an open designated player slot for new signing Robbie Keane.

Speculation was that Angel would come to Philly with most of his designated player wages being paid for by the Galaxy to facilitate the acquisition of Keane, who is set to make $4.5 million-a-year in Los Angeles.
