32 Eastern PA state cup champions crowned in Royersford
ROYERSFORD – Thirty-two state cup champions were crowned at the HillTop Farm Soccer Complex on Saturday as months of competition in the Challenge Cup and NCS State Cup reached an entertaining conclusion.
Penn FC Youth swept the 18U and 19U NCS State Cup girls finals with a 5-3 win over Philadelphia SC Coppa Rage in the 19U final and a 2-0 win over Western Lehigh United SC in the 18U final. Penn FC Youth Black won their first NCS State Cup while Penn FC Youth Lightning – 2021 USYS National Champions – won their third to halt Coppa Rage’s streak of three straight straight.
Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals won their fifth NCS State Cup with a 2-1 win over PA Dominion in the 18U final and PA Dominion’s 2004 team made it back-to-back cup wins and their third overall with a 3-2 win over Penn Alliance Select in the 19U boys final.
Lower Merion SC had a banner day in Challenge Cup, winning all four of their finals on the day. Lancaster Elite won all three of their finals, including the Lancaster Derby in the 17U girls final 3-1 over PA Classics Elite Green in overtime. Penn Fusion and FC Delco also won three Challenge Cup titles on the day.
A total of 19 clubs were represented in the winners circle on the day. A total of 30 clubs were finalists.
Three of the four NCS State Cup finalists have already qualified for the national championships and will have the option of opting out of the East Regional Championships in Loudoun County. The Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals can now earn a spot into the national championships through the regional championships.
