The Philadelphia Union once again dispatched the New York Red Bulls to extend their unbeaten streak over their I-95 rivals to 12 straight with a 4-1 win at Subaru Park on Sunday night.

The opposition lept out ahead in the 11th minute. Omir Fernandez opened it up for the Red Bulls. Andres Reyes found his teammate open in the box and while his first attempt was blocked, he knocked home the rebound to give his side the lead.

Philadelphia brought themselves level in the 29th minute. Jakob Glesnes scored the Union’s first set piece goal of the night. The center back cleaned up a corner punched by Red Bulls goalkeeper Carlos Coronel to make it 1-1.

Philadelphia nearly took the lead at the end of the first half. A Julian Carranza goal was called back due to offside. The Union would go into the second half with an advantage, Sean Nealis sent off in the 44th minute.

Another center back would give the home side the lead in the 57th minute. Off of a Kai Wagner free kick, a diving Damion Lowe put the Union ahead 2-1. Just a minute later, Julian Carranza would extend that lead. Wagner had a fantastic assist, masterfully volleying a cross back into Carranza in the box. The Argentine forward was clinical in his strike, powering his shot past the goalkeeper to his right.

Daniel Gazdag would make it four for the Union in 76th minute, and this time, it wasn’t from the penalty spot! Once again set up by Wagner, his fourth assist of the night, the German left back played Gazdag through after causing a turnover. Running through on goal, the Hungarian midfielder sent the keeper the wrong way, placing his shot into the left-hand corner. The goal officially moves Gazdag to second on the Union all-time scoring list with 37 goals.

After a disappointing loss to Toronto FC earlier in the week, it was a massive three points earned for Philadelphia. The Union still stand in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, one point behind New England and Orlando City. Philadelphia will host first-place Cincinnati next Saturday night at Subaru Park.
