Union get potential good news on Leon Flach injury

Leon Flach may not be done for the season, after all.
Philadelphia Union head coach Jim Curtin said Wednesday in his weekly press conference that the team has received potentially good news on Flach’s injury. Instead of needing season-ending surgery, he’s going to elect for a procedure that could keep him out for just a couple more weeks.
“He did get a second opinion in Germany,” Curtin said. “And, you know, we’ll try I’ll just say a different approach and a different procedure that could maybe get him back in about two weeks rather than the longer one. Once you have surgery with the sports hernia it becomes six to eight weeks depending on how you recover.”
The potential good news on Flach won’t mean much for Saturday where captain Alejandro Bedoya will be unavailable due to yellow card. Jesus Bueno should be available to play though after training the past two days. Curtin said he picked up a knock while with Venezuela that was originally thought to be potentially worse but has recovered well since leaving camp early.
“He felt good enough to train the past two days, which helps our group a lot,” Curtin said. “It’s good to have him back healthy.”
Daniel Gazdag, who didn’t join Hungary’s team during the international break, is 100 percent, Curtin said.
