Obafemi Awodesu is the latest YSC Academy grad to turn pro, signing an MLS Next Pro contract with Houston Dynamo 2.

The Philadelphia native who starred for four years at Penn State was a surprise snub in the MLS SuperDraft but was able to work his way into a second team contract in Houston after impressing in preseason.

“We are excited to have Obafemi join the club and continue his development with our staff here in Houston,” Dynamo Assistant General Manager Nick Kowba said in a news release. “He had a successful collegiate career, winning individual accolades and championships. That is the type of competitor we want on the team, one that will demand more from our group.”

Awodesu played locally for Germantown Soccer Club, FC Delco and the Philadelphia Union Academy before a stint in Florida playing at Chargers SC prior to playing for his former Union Academy coach Jeff Cook at Penn State.
