Cavan Sullivan’s long-range goal highlights two-point draw for Union II
Philadelphia Union II are back even on points at the top of the Eastern Conference standings after a stunning screamer from distance from Cavan Sullivan, who also converted the deciding kick in a penalty shootout to earn an extra point after a 1-1 draw with Columbus Crew 2 on Monday at Subaru Park.
Columbus had control of the ball for most of the first half but Sullivan was able to blast one into the net from a long way out in the 29th minute, marking the local talent’s third goal of the season.

Columbus was able to equalize the score with a goal in the 65th minute from forward Brent Adu-Gyamfi, 18, with an assist from forward Chase Adams, 16.
By MLS Next Pro league rules, the match went to penalty shootouts after the tie. Union II won the shootout 5-4 thanks to a big stop from goalkeeper Andrew Rick.
Both teams recorded a combined 20 fouls in the game including a yellow card for Columbus defender Jacob Greene, 21, in the 51st minute and for Union II defender Gavin Wetzel, 17, in the 72nd minute.
Philadelphia Union II will travel to Truist Point Stadium to face Carolina Core on Wednesday, September 11 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
