MLS Season Pass returns with new ‘Sunday Night Soccer’

The third season of MLS Season Pass on Apple TV+ kicks off on February 22 with MLS is Back Opening Weekend. Over the course of two days, all 30 MLS clubs will take the field. The opening match will see Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF hosting New York City FC. The Philadelphia Union will also start their campaign on the road in Florida against Orlando City. Kickoff for the boys in blue match is set for 7:30 p.m.
Sunday Night Soccer Makes Its Debut
One of the biggest changes this season is the introduction of Sunday Night Soccer, a featured primetime match every Sunday with an enhanced broadcast production, including dedicated pregame and postgame coverage. Every Sunday Night Soccer game will be available to all Apple TV+ subscribers, making it the most widely accessible MLS game each week.
The first-ever Sunday Night Soccer broadcast will showcase MLS’s newest team, San Diego FC, taking on the LA Galaxy on February 23.
Apple hasn’t confirmed whether other free matches will be available outside of Sunday Night Soccer, but in previous seasons, roughly 40% of matches were available for free for the first two years of the 10-year Apple-MLS deal.
MLS Productions Moves to a New Studio
A major behind-the-scenes shift is happening for MLS Season Pass’s production team. MLS Productions and IMG (the company responsible for producing MLS matches and studio shows) are moving out of their New York City studio and into WWE’s new production facility. This change is connected to TKO Group Holdings’ agreement with Endeavor to acquire IMG, a deal expected to close in the first half of 2025.
