Philadelphia native Brandan Craig has found a new home, signing a one-year deal with two option years with CF Montréal after impressing as a preseason camp invite.

Craig had his option declined by the Philadelphia Union after spending the 2024 season with El Paso Locomotive in the USL Championship but the door was left open for the possibility of his return prior to his joining CF Montréal for preseason camp. His contract includes options for 2027 and 2028.

“We are delighted to acquire Brandan,” said CF Montréal President and CEO Gabriel Gervais. “He showed consistency and good technical quality on the ball during camp. He’s a young player who can play as a central defender or on the right side of the defense. We are confident he will be able to continue his progression with the Club.”

A graduate of the Philadelphia Union Academy and YSC Academy, Craig made his professional debut with the Bethlehem Steel in 2020. The Northeast Philadelphia native played at Philadelphia Soccer Club and Fishtown AFC in his youth soccer days. Though he logged more than 3,200 minutes playing for the Union’s second team in USL Championship and MLS Next Pro, Craig made just one appearance in 2021 for the first team and also struggled to find playing time when loaned out to Austin FC in 2023.

He made 19 appearances and logged more than 1,400 minutes for El Paso last season.

Internationally, Craig has represented the United States at the U15, U20, and U23 levels. In 2023, he played every minute for the U.S. at the Under-20 World Cup, where his team reached the quarterfinals. Craig also helped his country win the Concacaf U20 Championship in 2022, alongside new CF Montréal teammates Caden Clark and Jalen Neal.

Craig joins Chester-born center back George Campbell and former Philadelphia Union midfielder Fabian Herbers on CF Montréal’s 2025 roster.
