Hot dog-eating champ Joey Chestnut visiting Subaru Park for Dollar Dog Day

Rain or shine, Joey Chestnut knows his way around a soaked hot dog.

With wet weather in the forecast for this Sunday’s match against Nashville SC, the competitive eating legend will be right at home as he joins the Philadelphia Union for their annual Dollar Dog event at Subaru Park.

While stars like Tai Baribo and Kai Wagner will be making their presence felt on the pitch, Chestnut will be making his felt off it. With over 50 world records across multiple eating competitions, Chestnut has easily cemented himself as the greatest competitive eater in history. He is most known for his victories in Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, where he set the record for the most hot dogs eaten in 10 minutes, scarfing down 76 hot dogs – and yes, that includes the buns.

Chestnut will be attending a meet-and-greet event, where fans who purchase VIP tickets will have the chance to get his autograph, take photos, and even eat hot dogs with him. The earlier match time gives fans the perfect opportunity for an afternoon snack, which of course, includes $1 hot dogs. On top of his VIP appearance, Chestnut will also be banging the drum just before kickoff.

This season, beloved commentator JP Dellacamera has already kicked off the Union’s tradition of pre-match drum striking to mark the start of the 2025 season. Perhaps Chestnut can get the crowd going once more by slamming a few pre-match hot dogs. Only time will tell.
