Murphy Agnew and Celtic Women win Scottish Women’s Premier League title
New Hope, Pa. native Murphy Agnew capped her first season playing in Scotland with a Scottish Women’s Premier League title on Sunday, helping lead Celtic Women to the league title with a 1-0 win over Hibernia.
The league title was the first for the Celtic Women.
Agnew, a standout at Yardley Makefield Soccer and Villa Joseph Marie before a successful college career at Harvard, signed with the famed Scottish club last summer and played a key role in their championship run with 13 goals and 7 assists in 29 appearances across the season.
She started in Sunday’s match in front of 7,000 fans at Celtic Park, but subbed out prior to Amy Gallacher’s dramatic 90th minute winner.
