West Chester United will have a chance to complete the Region 1 double, after all.

United States Adult Soccer Association, which overseas the National Amateur Cup and other regional and national amateur competitions, convened a panel to review the protest of an ineligible player used by Christos FC in their 3-2 win over West Chester in the Region 1 semifinal played on May 18. The Maryland-based team – and close rivals and friends of West Chester – won the game in extra time but Penn grad Ben Stitz played in the game despite not being listed in the player pool that was submitted.

Christos FC was disqualified from the tournament by the committee, giving West Chester United a spot in the final instead. The Region 1 final will be played on June 14 at 6 p.m. at Ukrainian American Sport Center in North Wales. NY Pancyprian Freedoms are back in the final after beating Christos FC last year 2-0.

West Chester United is also in the Werner Fricker Cup on Father’s Day. They lost the final a year ago to Lansdowne Yonkers FC 4-1. West Chester will also look to defend their U-23 title in the tournament played over the weekend. Christos FC, meanwhile, has three teams participating in the finals with teams in the O50, O40 and O30 finals.
