George Marks leads Union II to two-point day at Red Bull II

George Marks made a couple big stops in regulation to keep the Red Bulls off the scoreboard and then put on a display in the shootout with three saves and a penalty kick of his own to lead Philadelphia Union II to a two-point day at MSU Soccer Park on Sunday afternoon.

Marks, the most senior player in the Union II squad, put his team on his back after a win slipped out of their hands on a Red Bull goal late in stoppage time. Earlier in the match when Red Bull II looked more likely to score he kept the game scoreless.

Substitute Lennon Harrington scored shortly after coming into the match to put the visitors ahead in the 63rd minute. Willyam Ferreira was credited with an assist on the play.

Paul Sokoloff found the late equalizer with under a minute left in stoppage time to steal a point for the hosts but Marks made sure it was only one point dropped for the Union II, now on 8 points through their first four games of the season.

Union II will be back in action at home on April 12 at 3 p.m. at Subaru Park.
