Carlos Ruiz Reportedly On Puebla FC’s Transfer Shortlist

Philadelphia Union striker Carlos Ruiz is apparently on Puebla FC’s transfer radar, according to Periodico Digital.

Puebla wants to bring in "reinforcements" to improve the Mexican Primera Division club's title chances for the upcoming season. Finishing thirteenth in 2011, Puebla failed produce a winning side once, and did not progress into the league playoffs, finishing third in their group. The team recently brought in 33-year-old Maria Rodriquez and 28-year-old Gonzalo Pineda to bolster the squad, and are looking to Ruiz, Ecuadorian Jorge Guagua and a midfielder to finish the team's transfers, per Periodico Digital.

Ruiz, who is currently on international duty with Guatemala in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, joined the Union on February 22, returning to MLS where he is one of the top scorers in league history. So far into his short stay with the Union, the 31-year-old forward has scored three goals in 10 appearances for the Eastern Conference leading (tied with the New York Red Bulls, but behind on goal differential with a game in hand) Union.

As of May 1, Ruiz was the Union's highest paid player based on a survey done by MLS Players Union, earning over $306,000 in guaranteed compensation for the 2011 season.
