Report: Paxten Aaronson signed to homegrown contract

Paxten Aaronson, the younger brother of Philadelphia Union midfielder Brenden Aaronson, is reportedly following in his brother’s footsteps with a homegrown contract.

According to a report from MLSSoccer.com citing unnamed sources, the 16-year-old midfielder from Medford, NJ has been signed to a first team homegrown contract.

He made his USL Championship debut last month and earned his first start for Philadelphia Union II earlier this month.

Details of the deal haven’t been announced, but it’s likely he would be on a similar deal as Union II teammate Nathan Harriel, who will play out the USL Championship season on a USL deal and be added to the first team roster in January.

Aaronson has followed a similar path to his brother, joining the Union Academy from Real Jersey FC in 2015. Like his brother, he is also an attacking midfielder.

He is entering his junior year of high school at YSC Academy this fall.
