Eastern Pennsylvania State Cup finals this Saturday at WSFS Bank Sportsplex
WSFS Bank Sportsplex will host the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer State Cup finals this Saturday with state champs being crowned in the U12-U17 NCS State Cups and the U12-U19 Presidents Cup.
Five teams will be looking to repeat as state champions while nine finalists from a year ago will want to avenge their losses. The lone rematch of the day features Reading Rage SC Pugh vs Penn Alliance Select playing for the U-15 girls NCS final won last year by the Rage.
Two Challenge Cup winners from 2023 will be playing for the Presidents Cup with Hulmeville Demons going for the U-13 boys Presidents Cup crown and Lower Merion SC Rovers Red going for the U-12 boys Presidents Cup crown.
Just one Presidents Cup winner from a year ago will defend their title with Central Susquehanna Phoenix playing for the U-14 girls final a year after making a run to the National Presidents Cup after finishing as Eastern Regional finalists.
Teams looking to repeat as NCS State Cup champions include Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals in the U-13 boys final, Reading Rage in the aforementioned U-15 girls final, YMS Premier Celtic in the U-16 boys final and Reading Rage SC Press in the U-17 girls final.
YMS Celtic will face FC Delco 2008 boys NAL team after they defeated 2023 runners up Sporting PA Thunder in the semifinal on Wednesday night. The Delco team has a chance to win the club’s first state perpetual trophy since the FC Delco Lightning girls won the Robert Urban Cup in 2011. The last Delco team to win the Werner Fricker Sr. Cup they play for on Saturday was the FC Delco Crush in 2004. The club’s move from the ECNL Regional League to the National Academy League made them eligible for the state cup again.
NCS State Cup runner ups from 2023 making a return include Warrington SC United in the U-16 girls final, YMS Premier United in the U-14 boys final and YMS Premier Warriors in the U-15 boys final. Returning Presidents Cup finalists include Southern Chester County Dragons (U-15 boys), Dillsburg Area Fury (U-16 boys), Lionsville SC Vipers (U-19 boys) and 1776 United FC (U-17 girls).
A total of 33 clubs will be represented in the 28 finals being played on Saturday. YMS has the most teams playing with 7, followed by Keystone FC with 6 and Lower Merion SC, Penn Fusion Academy and Warrington SC each with 3 teams. One club is guaranteed to have a state champion since two Lower Merion teams are facing off in the U-12 Boys Presidents Cup final.
