Mikey McGonagle celebrates a goal for Episcopal Academy against rivals Haverford School on October 14, 2025

Episcopal Academy avenged their 2024 PAISAA championship final loss from a year ago and knocked out the five-time defending champs Kiski School in a playoff game played on their home pitch on Tuesday.

After a tight, scoreless first half Mikey McGonagle and Graham Quedenfeld both scored in the second half to lead the Churchmen to the victory. They’ll visit Westtown School on Thursday with a return trip to the final on the line. Haverford School hosts Perkiomen School in the other semifinal on Thursday afternoon.

McGonagle, the senior leader, was taken down in the box after a long bouncing ball was played to him but he was able to get back up and push the ball into the net and open the scoring. With Kiski pushing and nearly finding an equalizer, Episcopal was able to grab an all-important second goal when Charlie Rihn jumped a passing lane and fed a pass to Quedenfeld on the run and the sophomore attacker did the rest, tucking the ball inside the left post.

Goalkeepers Marco Giancroce and Charlie Esterhai combined on the shutout for the Churchmen.

Kiski School won the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association title in 2019 and after the 2020 tournament was not played won it again in each of the last four seasons. Springside Chestnut Hill Academy won it the previous two seasons in 2017 and 2018.
