Episcopal Academy scored a goal in each half and shut down the dynamic Westtown School attack to capture the 2025 Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association girls soccer crown on Wednesday night at Arcadia University.

In a battle of the previous two champions, the Churchwomen (19-3-1) were able to avenge a 1-0 loss earlier in the season by disrupting the Westtown attack, winning a number of duels across the pitch and denying entry passes and final balls into dangerous areas. The two goals came off left-footed strikes from Maya Le and Devon Stewart. Sofia Gagliardi recorded assists on both.

“We have the same goals in mind every year, win the banner, win the Inter-AC and get into the PAISAA championship and this year the pieces all fell into place,” head coach Andrew Fraggos said. “Over the summer we weren’t sure what to expect but we attribute our 1-0 loss during the season to Westtown as our turning point.”

The athleticism of several multi-sport players on the squad was key but so too was the core of seniors who had played behind a talented senior class before them led by captains Caroline Johnston, Charlotte Franklin and Caitlin McCarthy and young stars in the making Lowen O’Neill and Ryann Cicero who were flashing their technical skills in several build ups on Wednesday night.

The win over Westtown was their 14th straight and 9th shutout during that stretch. Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Moore registered the team’s 14th clean sheet of the season.

“I just think we have the effort and we put up a fight and we’re prepared,” said Moore, a first-year starter. “We know what we’re going into every game and we just have that winning mindset.”

The goal midway through the half was Le’s second in as many games.

“It felt surreal, it was so amazing,” said Le, whose older sister Avery was on the 2023 PAISAA championship team. “We love each other so much as a team so having everyone behind me was so much fun.”
