It was a weekend to forget for the Union, and it wasn’t much better for the former Union players playing internationally, outside of strong performances and wins by Samuel Adeniran and Auston Trusty. Jose Martinez saw red while three players lost and Julian Carranza was left on the bench again.

With sustained success this decade, fans have seen some of the brightest academy talents, their favorite players, and outcasts make their way overseas to compete in some of the best leagues in the world. The club is represented in Europe, South America, the Middle East, and more.

Let’s see how some of those former Union players fared in last week’s matches:

Samuel Adeniran – The former Union striker showed his versatility in LASK’s 3-1 home win over Sturm Graz on Sunday, notching two assists. In the 27th minute, Adeniran sent a flicked header through to Moses Usor, who made no mistake on the breakaway, chipping LASK into the lead. In the second half, Adeniran shielded the ball near the corner flag, turned to beat two defenders on the endline, and sent in a low, driven cross that was finished off by Krystof Danek. The 27-year-old created three chances, including two big chances, and had one shot on goal. Adeniran is tied for the team lead in goals (three) and assists (two).

Jose Martinez – The former Union midfielder had a match to forget on Sunday, a day most Union fans will want to wipe from their brains. Martinez played 17 minutes as a second-half substitute before being shown a straight red card for violent conduct. Martinez elbowed Matheus Pereira in the back as the latter was trying to take a quick free kick. Martinez forcefully swung his elbow in a downward motion, striking Pereira in the lower back. Originally given as a yellow card, the decision was changed after a VAR check. Corinthians fell 3-0 to Cruzeiro, with Martinez’s red card coming after his side conceded all three goals. The 31-year-old continues to be in hot water in Brazil, accumulating 11 cards in 22 league games, serving multiple suspensions for on-field infractions and off-field issues, and having disagreements with his coaches.

Jamiro Monteiro – The former Union midfielder continued his strong run of play for PEC Zwolle in a 2-2 draw at FC Groningen on Sunday. Monteiro played 60 minutes, completed 30 of his 35 passes, and created one chance. The 32-year-old made seven recoveries, won six duels, and won two tackles, the most by any player in the match. Thanks to Monteiro’s play, PEC Zwolle have lost just once in their last six games and have climbed out of the Eredivisie relegation zone.

Auston Trusty – The former Union center back kept a clean sheet with Celtic in a 1-0 road win over St.Mirren on Saturday. Fresh off a cap with the USMNT, Trusty started his fifth consecutive match for Celtic. Trusty completed 80 of his 83 passes, the most in the game, and was the most accurate passer to play 45 minutes or more. The 27-year-old made four clearances, four recoveries, and created one chance. Since Trusty was reinserted into the starting XI, Celtic have taken all 12 possible points in the league. They now sit just four points behind leaders Hearts, with a game in hand.

– Brenden Aaronson (Medford, N.J.) played 80 minutes and had a shot on goal in Leeds United’s 2-1 home loss to Aston Villa on Sunday.

– Mark McKenzie (Bear, Del.) created two chances and won seven duels in Toulouse’s 1-0 loss at home to Angers on Sunday.

– Stuart Findlay played 74 minutes and was the most accurate passer in Hearts’ 1-0 road loss to Aberdeen on Sunday.
