Report: Cory Burke set to return to Union pending visa approval
The forward has been out of the United States since May 2019
Philadelphia Union forward Cory Burke is expected to make a return back to the team this week after spending time on loan in Austria, according to Simon Preston of RJR Gleaner Group.
Burke last played for the Union on April 20, 2019. He has 12 goals in 36 MLS appearances.
In 2019, Burke returned to his home country of Jamaica, and eventually got stuck in the country over visa issues. While initially expected to just be out for 3-6 months, Burke spent nine months in Jamaica before the Union loaned him to Austrian club SKN St Polten, where he played through the end of the season in early July.
Burke was first brought into the Union’s system in 2016, when he was loaned to the Bethlehem Steel from Rivoli United.
The 28-year-old still needs to clear up issues with the embassy, though once his visa is approved he should be able to play for the remainder of the 2020 season.
