Philadelphia Union II picks up third straight draw in 2-2 tie at Huntsville

Sal Olivas and Cavan Sullivan scored on either side of halftime after staking Huntsville City FC to an early lead but Philadelphia Union II weren’t able to hold onto the lead and settled for one point in a 2-2 draw and a 4-3 penalty shootout loss.

The draw was Union II’s third straight to open the 2025 MLS Next Pro campaign. The defending Eastern Conference champions are on 4 points through their first three.

Olivas scored his first of the season in first half stoppage time on an assist from Isaiah LeFlore to cancel out Huntsville’s 7th minute opener from Christian Koffi. Cavan Sullivan’s second of the season was a tap-in that came off a great sequence of passes in the final third from Stas Korzeniowski and CJ Olney.

Damian Barker John equalized for the Nashville SC affiliate in the 67th minute.

Recent MLS Next Pro signing Rafael Uzcátegui made his debut in the match for Union II. Nine players on first team contracts featured in the match while academy player Zachary Mastrodimos earned another start as the lone amateur to feature.

Union II returns home for a Thursday night contest with Atlanta United 2 on April 10. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
