For the second time in 2025, the Capital City Islanders are UPSL champions, adding to their trophy cabinet with a 2-1 win on Saturday at Ironbound SCP to win the fall UPSL Northeast American South title.

Andrew Morris scored in the second minute from a tight angle to put the City Islanders in front but the hosts tied it just after halftime when Edward Abreu pounced on a rebound from a free kick to level the score. Derek Ramirez wasted no time finding a responding, putting in a stunning free kick from 25 yards out to retake the lead for good.

The City Islanders beat Passaic FC 5-4 at home on last Saturday to advance to the final. Ironbound SCP advanced to the final with a 4-2 win over Philadelphia Prime FC, which beat Philadelphia Lone Star 4-2 in the first round of playoffs on October 26. Philadelphia Union III finished the season in sixth place but opted out of playoffs.

Capital City Islanders and Ironbound finished even on points with 20 over the 10-game fall season but Ironbound earned the top seed with a better goal differential. The two teams split the regular season series and were even on head-to-head goal differential.

The fall season was the City Islander’s second in the UPSL (first in the Premier division) and Saturday’s win clinched their second trophy after winning the UPSL Division 1 Northeast regional championship in the spring.
