Austin FC select Virginia Tech midfielder Daniel Pereira at No. 1 in 2021 MLS SuperDraft
During his two seasons at Virginia Tech, Pereira registered six goals and six assists in 26 games. He helped Virginia Tech finish the Fall 2020 college soccer season ranked No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches poll, posting a 3-1-2 record.

San Jose Earthquakes bring in Eduardo ‘Chofis’ Lopez on loan from Chivas
Lopez, 26, joins the Earthquakes after spending his entire professional career previously at Chivas, making his debut in 2013. The left-footed attacking midfielder has played over 200 times for Chivas across all competitions, and played for Earthquakes boss Matias Almeyda in Guadalajara from 2015-18, the duo helping to lead Chivas to a Liga MX title, two Copa MX titles, and a Concacaf Champions League title in that span.
Draft Day Deal: Dynamo land Derrick Jones
Houston is sending $250K in General Allocation Money to Nashville in exchange for the Ghanaian born midfielder. Jones started his career in Major League Soccer with the Philadelphia Union in 2016. Nashville acquired Jones before they even joined in MLS, back in 2019 for $175K in General Allocation Money.
João Paulo completes transfer to Sounders
The Sounders officially completed João Paulo’s transfer from Brazilian club Botafogo on Jan. 21, paying a reported fee of about $1 million and signing him through the 2023 season. João Paulo was on loan last year, for which the Sounders paid a reported fee of about $1.2 million.
