Four players with ties to the area were drafted in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft on Friday.

Cornell junior defender Andrew Johnson was selected by Charlotte FC with the 47th overall pick. The Philadelphia native and Haverford School grad played for Lower Merion SC and the Philadelphia Union Academy before finishing his youth career with FC Delco in MLS Next. He’s made 50 appearances over three seasons for the Big Red. Johnson, who has played for Reading United in USL League Two, has the option to return to school for his senior season but Charlotte would retain his MLS rights.

Johnson’s FC Delco teammates Caden Grabfelder was drafted with the 50th overall pick by CF Montreal. The Penn State sophomore from Northampton, Pa. played for Lehigh Valley United, the Philadelphia Union Academy and FC Delco prior to college and has played with Lehigh Valley United in USL League Two. He has 7 goals and 4 assists in 33 appearances over two seasons in Happy Valley.

Phelps School grad Collins Oduro was selected 57th by Orlando City. The Indiana sophomore was the Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year in 2022. He’s had 8 goals and 7 assists in 44 appearances for the Hoosiers.

Philadelphia Union Academy grad Lukas Burns went to Portland Timbers with the 74th pick. The fifth year Providence College goalkeeper made 73 appearances during his time there and has played in USL League Two with Real Central NJ.
