Philadelphia Union Week 5 MVP
Was Tranquillo Barnetta's free kick enough to give him the nod, or would Andre Blake's heroics give him another MVP nod?
It was another week with a bit of a difficult decision to make for Philadelphia Union MVP. Do you reward the guy whose saves kept you in the game or the guy whose one kick won the entire thing? Does a dark horse come through and win? How do you decide? As usual I posed this question to the staff here at Brotherly Game, and this is what they said.
Evan Villella: CJ Sapong. Just such a big difference when you have a guy up top with confidence who can win almost anything in the box.
Nick Youngstein: Tranquillo Barnetta. The free kick.
Doug Gobrecht: When you win a match on one kick, you da real MVP.
Chris Allen: It has to be Barnetta because of the free kick.
John Rossi: Barnetta. Scored one of the best goals in club history to put the Union at the top of the East for the first time since 2011, I believe.
Jared Young: Barnetta.
Drew Gobrecht: Andre Blake for keeping the team in the match with his heroics in net AGAIN.
Alex Klein: Barnetta, won the game with the free kick.
Matt Ralph: I think Blake for his huge saves. It's a tie or a loss without him.
Pretty hard to argue with the logic for anyone on the list, but the night goes to Tranquillo Barnetta.
